Has a guy with a bad reputation asked you out? Are you bothered by what other people say about him? Should you be affected by his “past”? If you have been asked out by a guy with such a reputation with girls and are bothered by the things that others say, don’t just turn him down without giving him a chance to prove himself to you. Who knows? He might have already changed his ways, having learned his lesson from his past issues. So instead of dumping a guy with a bad reputation right on, try getting to know him first.
Know his intentions.
Be vigilant enough to sense if the guy is really into you or is just playing games. You could spend time with him and know if he is at all sincere about pursuing you. When you sense some defensiveness on his part when asked if he is serious about you, or when you sense that he has been seeing other people besides you, then it’s time to scoot and leave him before your relationship gets any deeper.
Probe within his imperfections.
A guy with a bad reputation may be coming from a really bad experience in his past. Try looking beyond his imperfections and see his true value. His bad ways may just be a form of defense mechanism from having an insecure history. Try to see what’s behind his defensive wall and you might just see a sensitive person.
Set aside his past.
It would help if you just ignore his bad reputation and start anew. Thinking about his negative past and having a negative bias would just create a tensed atmosphere between the two of you. Try seeing him as a different person. Look at him from a different angle. Don’t bring up subjects that would lead to discussions about how “imperfect” he is. Keep in mind that a guy’s bad reputation should not hinder you from seeing the good person in him. You should understand where he is coming from and why he acted that way in the past.
